Sunny Beach is the most famous and indisputably one of the most beautiful resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is located in a beautiful bay, which in its southern part borders Nessebar – a unique historic monument of the Bulgarian culture. In the northern part of the complex it reaches the southern slopes of the Stara Planina mountains. This unparalleled combination of sea and mountain creates exceptionally favourable climactic conditions.
The complex has a unique location. It is only 35 km away from Bourgas, the biggest tourist centre in our country and 30 km from Bourgas airport - one of the most modern airports of Bulgaria. The landscape of Sunny Beach is flat, differing significantly from that of the other big Black sea resorts. The sea bottom is sandy with a gradual slant and no surprising depths. The beach line has a length of 5.500 metres and an average width of 40 to 50 metres. It is built up of fine, homogeneous sand. There are dune formations in its western part, which comprise a national reserve with a total area of 86 hectares.
